Who holds your accounts?
Your Google listing, domain, phone number, CRM and manufacturer portal should belong to the business, not to you personally, a relative, an old employee or an agency. Go down the list, and you'll end up with one page the next owner can use.
Your accounts
·
Most accounts let the current holder add the business as an owner or admin, then step down to user. Ask them for that, not for their password. Use a business email for every account (office@ or owner@ your domain), and keep the logins in a password manager the business pays for.
For your Google listing, the listing check walks you through getting primary ownership back.
Why this matters before a sale or a handover
- The next owner can't take over an account nobody can log into. Google listings, domains and phone numbers are the slowest to recover, and the most expensive to lose.
- Manufacturer portals hold your certification and your registered warranties. Homeowners' enhanced warranties were registered through that account. Losing it leaves them chasing paperwork.
- Agency-owned ad and tracking accounts don't transfer. If an agency set them up under its own name, the history stays with the agency.
The same list helps the day an employee leaves or an agency relationship ends. Go through it once a year.
