What do missed calls and quiet estimates cost you?

Most owners say they don't miss calls. The call log usually disagrees. Put in your own numbers, or keep our starting guesses, and see how many roofs a year walk to the next roofer on the list.

Your numbers

Start from the shop closest to yours, then change the numbers to your own. Rough is fine. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Calls

Every ring. CallRail or your phone system: calls for the last 30 days.
%
Leak repairs count. Existing customers, vendors and spam don't.
%
Voicemail counts as missed. After 5 p.m. counts too.
%
What you think you could get to. A shop that answers well misses about 1 in 10.
%
Most call the next roofer. Not sure? Leave 30.
%
Out of every new-job caller, all the way to a signed job.

Estimates

JobNimbus, AccuLynx or Roofr: estimates sent.
%
Signed jobs out of estimates presented.
pts
A guess. Two to five points is fair. Zero if you already follow up.

    Straight answer

This is a model, not a measurement. The starting rates come from home-services vendor surveys, not roofing studies, and your shop may be better or worse. The free audit replaces every guess here with your own call log and CRM.

The estimate half is your sales process. We report your close rate by source every month. The follow-up itself is yours (or your sales manager's), and we don't sell it.

    Where the numbers come from

    • Missed calls: about 27% of calls to home-services businesses aren't answered, and fewer than 3% of callers sent to voicemail leave a message. That's vendor data from home services generally, so treat it as a starting guess.
    • Who gets the job: homeowners call around. Owners say it themselves: the first roofer to call back usually gets the inspection.
    • Close rates: there's no trustworthy public benchmark for residential roofing. The widely quoted ones don't trace back to a source. That's why the close-rate lift starts at three points, and you can set it to zero.

    Formulas: missed-call loss = calls × (missed today − target) × share that's new roof work × (1 − reached later) × sign rate × average job. Quiet-estimate loss = estimates × (target close rate − today's) × average job.
